What is CREST CRT and Why Does it Matter?
CREST (Council of Registered Ethical Security Testers) is a globally recognised accreditation body for cybersecurity professionals and companies. Their CRT qualification is an NCSC approved certification that ensures penetration testers meet the highest technical, ethical, and professional standards.
Achieving CREST CRT allows Wayne to act as a Lead Assessor on penetration testing engagements, giving Seriun’s clients greater confidence in their security assessments and reinforcing their reputation as a trusted cybersecurity partner.
Wayne also holds:
– CSTM (Cyber Scheme Team Member) certification – demonstrating strong penetration testing skills
– CPSA (CREST Practitioner Security Analyst) certification – a stepping stone to CRT-level assessments
What This Means for Seriun and their Clients
Wayne’s achievement isn’t just a personal milestone – it strengthens Seriun’s ability to provide outstanding penetration testing and cybersecurity services. His expertise ensures Seriun’s clients stay protected against emerging threats and benefit from the most up-to-date security practices.
Wayne commented: “Achieving the CREST CRT accreditation was one of the toughest challenges I’ve faced in my career. It pushed me to my limits, forcing me to dig deep and consistently work outside my comfort zone for a prolonged period. But because it was so demanding, I’ve learned an incredible amount – both technically and mentally.
For our customers, this accreditation is more than just a certificate; it’s a guarantee that their penetration tests are carried out to a recognised, industry-leading standard. It ensures that every assessment we conduct meets the highest level of technical and ethical scrutiny, giving businesses the confidence that their security is in expert hands.”
Mark Edwards, Operations Director at Seriun said: “Wayne’s dedication to cyber is truly inspiring. His CREST CRT accreditation cements our position as a leader in cybersecurity, and we’re incredibly proud to have him driving our Cyber division forward.”
As cyber threats continue to evolve, Seriun remains committed to investing in their people and services to keep businesses secure. With Wayne’s leadership and new CREST CRT accreditation, they are more equipped than ever to deliver exceptional cybersecurity solutions that protect businesses from increasingly sophisticated attacks.

The Next Challenge
Passing the CREST CRT exam is no easy feat. Wayne credits much of his learning to the challenges and struggles he faced during the process, which ultimately made him a better penetration tester. His relentless drive to improve and test his limits reflects not only in his professional growth but also in his personal life.
Beyond cyber security, Wayne thrives on pushing himself to the extreme. He actively competes in England’s Strongest Man Nationals, embraces cold-water plunges in his garden every week, and is working towards achieving an ultra-marathon in September this year which will see him run from Blackpool to Lancaster.
In the summer, Wayne will also take on a Tough Mudder challenge with other members of the Seriun team to raise money for Burnley Football in the Community. You can read more details and support the cause here:
