Seriun Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week: Investing in the Future of STEM

At Seriun, we are passionate about nurturing the next generation of IT and business professionals. As an active apprenticeship employer, we take great pride in offering young people the opportunity to develop real-world skills, gain industry qualifications, and build promising careers – especially in STEM-related fields.

In recognition of National Apprenticeship Week, we’re celebrating our brilliant apprentices who are making an impact at Seriun. Each of them brings unique skills, ambition, and dedication to their roles, and we’re proud to support their professional journeys.

Meet our apprentices:

Lara Gibbins – Sales Apprentice

Lara is thriving in her role as a Sales Apprentice, working towards becoming an Account Manager. She ensures our customers’ needs are met and manages quotes, domain names, and software licenses. Her long-term goal is to build lasting relationships with clients and colleagues as a fully-fledged Account Manager. Reflecting on her apprenticeship, Lara shares:
“Sometimes when you’re in a dark place you think you’ve been buried, but you’ve actually been planted.” She believes Seriun has provided the perfect foundation for her to grow and flourish in her career.

Taylor Hughes – IT Support Apprentice (1st Line Engineer)

Taylor plays a key role on our Service Desk as a 1st Line Support Engineer. He helps log and resolve IT support requests, assists in onboarding new users, and escalates complex issues when needed. Taylor hopes to progress to a 2nd Line Engineer role in the near future.

“I’m so glad about the opportunity I received to do this job. It was a great entry into IT, and I’ve learned so much while being here. I can’t wait to progress even further.”

Jack Hebden – Cyber Security Technician Apprentice

Jack is on the frontline of cyber security at Seriun. His apprenticeship involves working on Cyber Essentials assessments, managing dark web monitoring, and automating repetitive tasks to improve efficiency. He is also expanding his skills in penetration testing and customer-facing projects. His ambition is to specialise and lead in a specific area of cyber security.

“This apprenticeship at Seriun has been a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Cyber Security, develop my skills, and contribute to the team while learning from industry professionals.”

James Moreton – Service Desk Engineer Apprentice

James brings a wealth of life experience to his apprenticeship after over 20 years as a Team Leader in a busy online retail business. Now, as a Service Desk Engineer, he is responsible for handling 1st line support tickets and setting up new users and devices. His goal is to progress to 2nd Line Engineer status, tackling more complex IT challenges.

“I’m enjoying my time at Seriun because it gives me the opportunity to learn new things every day.”

Ruby Harper – Sales Apprentice

Like Lara, Ruby is a Sales Apprentice at Seriun, gaining valuable experience in account management, customer support, and sales processes. While she is still exploring her future career path, we are excited to support her as she develops new skills and builds confidence in the industry.

Shaping the Future Together

At Seriun, we believe apprenticeships are a fantastic way to introduce young people to the world of work, providing them with the training and mentorship needed to build successful careers. We are committed to building a culture of learning, innovation, and professional growth.

To all our apprentices – past, present, and future – we celebrate your hard work, dedication, and achievements. You are the future of our industry, and we are proud to be part of your journey!

We’re also proud to share that seven members of our team began their careers as apprentices and have since grown into key roles at Seriun. On our Service Desk, Andrei, Cory, Shiraz, Ryan, and Jake continue to provide outstanding support, while James has progressed to Senior Service Engineer. Over in Projects, Michael is making a real difference to process integration between departments, and Isabelle is driving success in Marketing. Their journeys show just how valuable apprenticeships can be – not just as a stepping stone but as the start of a rewarding, long-term career.
